The EAGALA model comprises of Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP).

The model is based on a solution-oriented approach, rather than instructing or directing solutions, clients are encouraged to experiment, problem-solve, take risks, employ creativity and find solutions that work best for them. 


• A Team Approach; Equine Specialist, Mental Health Specialist, Horses
• 100% ground activity (i.e. you do not ride the horses)
• Experiential
• Feedback loop


Why Horses?
• Much like us, they have emotions
• They have herd dynamics
• They are prey animals so constantly aware of their surroundings
• They are very present and attuned
• Acutely aware of congruence and intent
• Large dynamic and powerful animals

Sessions can involve individual, family members, community/organizational groups. 



Apart from therapeutic work, there is also the option doing programs that focuses on developing skills. For example 'Tools for Living' focuses on; Respect, Responsibility, Relationship Skills, Boundaries, Empathy, Choices & Consequence.
